Wayne Davis

Associate Director of Worship

Wayne Davis has been a member of the Cathedral of Hope for well over twenty years and has held many positions of service and leadership in our music and technical ministries. Wayne leads our team for contemporary worship while also supporting all areas in our worship and music ministries. He has a deep passion for contemporary music, choral music, handbells, and organ. Wayne is well versed in multiple styles of worship and enjoys celebrating the many genres of music. Wayne shares with us his enthusiasm of working with volunteer and professional musicians in creating passionate and meaningful worship experiences. Wayne grew up in the Southern Baptist tradition and was known from an early age to challenge and question some teachings and theology. Wayne has had the privilege of studying at several universities and holds degrees in Church Music and Music Education with an emphasis in choral conducting. Wayne has the unique experience of working as a minister of music and worship at the local church level and at the denominational level. Wayne is also a former public-school music teacher. Special work includes music ministry transition consulting and intentional interim leadership for churches in transition. Wayne has been a member of ACDA, TMEA, AGO and the Choristers Guild. Outside of his work at the church Wayne leads several LGBTQ+ community and social justice organizations and is a human resources professional with an emphasis in clinical and medical programs for a major airline. Wayne enjoys travel across the world and resides with his two rescue dogs Zeke and Zoë.
