  • Sexuality, the Bible, and Modern Christianity | 07-03-25 to 08-21-25

    Thursdays, July 3 - August 21, 2025 | 7pm - 8pm | Fellowship Hall

Are you frustrated with how some people use the bible as a tool against LGBTQIA+ and sexuality in general? What does the bible really say about sexuality in general and specifically about same-sex relationships? How does a book written thousands of years in the past within a different societal and religious context apply to us today? This introductory foundational offering is for all who seek to reconcile modern sexuality with the text found in the bible. We will investigate the overall thematic structure of the bible, its biases, its historical context, its societal context, and specifically examine scripture that has been used to condemn issues of sexuality and especially LGBTQIA+ issues.

Cathedral of Hope (CoH) is turning 55, and you’re invited to the party! Join us on July 25th from 6–9 PM for an evening of joyful celebration filled with food trucks, fun games, live music, and free ice cream for everyone.

Our 55th Anniversary Event is a church-wide celebration designed for all, extending a warm welcome to the local community. Whether you’ve been part of our journey since the beginning or are just discovering us now, come be a part of this special milestone. Bring your friends, family, and pride. Everyone is welcome as we celebrate 55 years of faith, community, and hope!

CoH was founded in 1970 as a Metropolitan Community Church (MCC) Dallas by a small group of 12 friends. Today, we proudly stand as the world’s largest progressive church with a primary outreach to the LGBTQ community. Our mission is to proclaim Christ through faith, hope, and love, welcoming people of all races, ethnic backgrounds, ages, sexual orientations, and gender identities.

At our 55th Anniversary Event, enjoy a variety of delicious offerings from three food trucks, featuring everything from fried foods to Mexican nachos. We’ll have tables and seating inside, along with engaging games like cornhole, giant Jenga, and Connect 4. Plus, live music by Jason Huff and his talented band will set a festive atmosphere reminiscent of a Biergarten. Admission is free for everyone. The first 250 people will receive a $5 voucher to spend on food at the food trucks.

This family-friendly event is an opportunity to give thanks and recognition to our dedicated staff and volunteers who have made CoH a welcoming place for all. The main sanctuary will be transformed to accommodate our celebration, with additional outdoor space available for those who prefer to enjoy the fresh air.

Mark your calendars and join us as we honor our past and look forward to a bright future together. At CoH, no matter where you are on life’s journey, you are always welcome here!
