Jon Campoverde is a first-generation Latino who grew up in and around McAllen, TX. Growing up along the border with an Ecuadorian father and a Canadian mother, Jon knows firsthand the difficulty of reconciling one’s heritage with the culture around you. He wants to make space for people to do this reconciliatory work by bridging the gaps between various cultures and facilitating diversity and inclusion in church spaces. He is currently studying at Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University to receive his Master of Divinity. He currently serves the Perkins Student Association as the Justice-in-Action Chair. Previously, he studied at Dallas Theological Seminary, graduating in 2018 with his Master of Theology. Upon graduating from Perkins, Jon plans on being ordained in the United Methodist Church while also pursuing a PhD in religion and culture. He lives in Plano with his wife Stephanie, their daughter Beth, and their two cats: Debussy and Clara. When not studying or spending time with family, Jon enjoys reading/writing speculative fiction, playing/streaming video and board games, and developing/implementing scenarios for tabletop role-playing games.
