READING
"When we rise from sleep let us rise for the joy of the true work that we will be about this day; for every day carries the potential to bring the experience of heaven. Have courage to expect good from this new day."
(J. McQuiston)
WORDS OF HOPE
It’s a New Year! What type of "work" do you expect in this new day? If your mindfulness is limited to anticipate only the routine "humdrum" of the usual which the world throws at you, you may miss the opportunity to work with God today. Keep the workings of God in your new day!
Expect divine opportunities to pop up at unexpected times throughout your usual daily activities. Don't limit your chances for meaningful interaction with God to a brief prayer at meals or bedtime.
The Holy Spirit wants to guide you through interactions with other people, help you develop your goals for the new day, and strengthen you with the personal resources you'll need to succeed. If you mindfully approach all the day's activities with the perspective that God will work with and through you, the day will be transformed into a series of opportunities for spiritual growth and blessings for both you and those with whom you interact.
What a blessed day that will be!
"This is the day our God has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it", and rejoice in all of the opportunities which God will give me today to be with the divine presence in times of quiet and acts of ministry. (Psalm 118:24)
PRAYER
Lord God, help me to quiet my mind and open wide my heart to your wise voice guiding my life this day and throughout this New Year. May I surrender myself more to your will and share your loving care with all those I meet today. Be it ever so. Amen.
