SCRIPTURE
Colossians 1.29
For this purpose also I labor, striving according to His power, which mightily works within me.
WORDS OF HOPE
Before arising each morning from bed, I slowly, and with great mindfulness, say this prayer to commit the new day and myself to God's will and purpose for my life actions:
May the living presence of Christ Jesus fill every nook and cranny of my being to grow me to become a more efficient and faithful servant for you this day. My Lord, Christ Jesus, may your living presence give me your inspirational words, wisdom and the physical strength and patient persistence to achieve those opportunities which you place in my life today. My Lord, may your loving presence fill my life and spill forth to all those whom I meet this day. Lord Christ Jesus with your living presence in me, may we go forth together to be and to do those opportunities which you place in my life. And in all that I am and all that I do, may you be glorified, your presence be manifested to the world and others be blessed. Be it ever so. Amen.
It helps to ground and center my spiritual life as the busyness of each day starts to pound on me. I remember that which I committed to God in this prayer, and my spiritual resolve to be true to God is better empowered to live out the words of the prayer. Try it; God will work wonders in your life!
A commitment to live as God desires for your life begins with your commitment of each day and yourself to be mindful to divine help and direction. Think about the day ahead of you as if it were a day trip driving to an assigned work responsibility. You have made yourself ready to go, then what happens? Do you sit down in a comfortable chair and do little about what actions come your way, or do you go out, get into your car, and set out on a day of opportunities and activities?
As you begin your tasks for the day, and if you drive to a place you do that, you must be mindful about going to work and getting the work done. Is there enough gas in the car's tank to get you there and back? You probably need to get more gasoline, but from which gas station? Some people behave as if they can fill their car’s tank with some of their own home brewed, but leftover, morning coffee. Others seek the cheapest and maybe questionable source of fuel for their car. However, wisdom suggests that it is best to trust your driving life with a single gas station that will always provide you with quality and powerful auto fuel.
And which single gas station is that? Your decision to hook up to its fuel pump is one of the most important decisions you'll make all day! For a successful spiritual day of activity, you must acknowledge that God provides the best, most trustworthy and powerful fuel energy you can use to succeed each day! Each morning as you say this prayer, you acknowledge that fact and commit to "hook your spiritual tank" to God's source of powerful fuel.
PRAYER
May you be my spiritual fuel for the day. Amen
