SCRIPTURE
2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
WORDS OF HOPE
It’s a New Year and a new day. How will you live your life that is uniquely you this year?
Theologian J.McQuiston says "If you want to live the life that only you can live, do good for others, and when you have done good, you'll have life abundant." That sentence contains two powerful messages. You have a unique opportunity to live goodness into those experiences which will be part of your new day in a New Year.
No one else can step into that day and live your part of it. You, alone, live out the opportunities which come your way. Don't plan to sit on the sideline and expect someone else to fill your necessary role in those life interactions. Your participation is vital! The creation of this new day awaits you and your response.
But, how will you respond to events as they happen moment by moment? Will you tend to react in a manner which reflects caution, self -protective fear or anger? Will you be unwilling to share much of yourself with those who relate to you, or will you let the loving goodness of God flow through you to bless the other person's life?
In each of your conversations and interactions, you may be the only source for God's wisdom and loving care to be expressed! And when you allow the divine presence to be part of your every word and act, you too will be richly blessed. In order for God to pour blessings through you to enrich the life of others, your life will be filled with special blessings. (Like a pitcher must be filled with water before it pours water into the waiting glass. And those blessings which you will spill into the life of others will be good because their source is the all-goodness of God.
PRAYER
Lord God, help me to quiet my mind and open wide my heart to your wise voice guiding my life this day of the New Year. May I surrender myself more to your will and share your loving care with all those I meet today. Be it ever so. Amen.
