INSPIRATIONAL SONG
“When I'm worried and I can't sleep
I count my blessings instead of sheep
And I fall asleep counting my blessings
When my bankroll is getting small
I think of when I had none at all
And I fall asleep counting my blessings…”
Songwriter: Irving Berlin
WORDS OF HOPE
Following my tradition of daily gratitude for the month of November, the idea of counting our blessings is a great idea. Let’s keep it going in Advent.
I love watching the movie "White Christmas " and the song above has a perfect lesson for us all. It encourages us to be positive and not let the struggles we face cause us to become negative. Most of us sure need this now.
Sure we all have times of challenges. But we must remember God is with us in good times and bad. And while we may not always be happy, we must not let our challenges destroy our joy in life and in all that God does for us.
During this season of Advent let us remember to be watching and waiting for an opportunity to share our joy with those less fortunate and to help those trying hard to find blessings to count. Give a blanket or coat or gloves to the homeless. Or give a blessing bag with several necessary items. Or keep a raincoat from the dollar store in your car to give the homeless in rainy weather. Help programs who feed the hungry. When I count my blessings, it makes me want to help those less fortunate.
I find that helping others helps me realize all the blessings I have that I tend to take for granted. Even my life! This has been a tough year of losing people. That sure makes you appreciate your life!
PRAYER
Gracious God who loved us enough to send Jesus, we thank you for all our blessings. Help us love all your children and do our part to make the lives better of those less fortunate.
