SCRIPTURE
Romans 8.28
And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to God’s purpose.
WORDS OF HOPE
Years ago, when I started my first business, things weren’t going as planned. New investors were getting impatient, applying lots of pressure and product development was going much slower than anticipated. Deep inside I knew this project would potentially change lives and needed to succeed. I kept holding onto faith; believing God would protect it from failure. It would have been so easy to quit, accept the loss and move on. Every day I would ask God for guidance and the strength to stay on purpose.
One bleak afternoon of another closed door, feeling I was about to let go, I asked God to “show me a sign” in a way I would understand. Crying and stuck in traffic on a freeway, I let a car get in front of me. It was a rusty, dirty, beat-up old car that had been some miles. Then I noticed the personal license plate which read “DNTQUIT”. I started laughing out loud while tears of joy, instead of fear, started rolling down my cheek. I felt so peaceful and free. So, I didn’t quit! Instead, I dug in my heels, got my team fired up and it went on to become a successful business.
Just like my business experience of “not quitting” and “digging in” the same faith has held me to this church and all it stands for. Collectively and individually whether we have experienced losses or gains, criticism or disapproval, disrespect or honor along with countless changes, we have committed to work together creating a safe place for all. In a variety of thought-out and unexpected ways we continue to create a Cathedral of Hope where everyone is welcome to worship. I am grateful to work side by side with members and leaders who continually commit, no matter the circumstances, to building a sanctuary of spiritual and eternal good for everyone who desires to share peace with God.
PRAYER
Creator God in this seeming difficult time, through faith, let us continue to reflect the image that working together for your good and your purpose will constantly transform us all. In Jesus name. Amen
