Matthew 18:20
New International Version
For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.
WORDS OF HOPE
I have been doing Physical therapy for over a month. My physical strength has deteriorated since the warranty on my knees expired!
After my knees got bad my physical abilities grew gradually less vigorous. Eventually I became short of breath when walking for short periods. My doctor sent me to a heart doctor and a lung doctor trying to discover why exercise like getting dressed in the morning makes me short of breath. After both specialists checked me out, the pulmonologist decided I had lost my stamina as I had given in to the pain of walking on arthritis worn out knees.
Ok. That's the reason. How do you solve that problem with knees that don't let you exercise and build back up your capacity? Yes, replacing them is an answer, but doing that when I do not have the strength to rehab from that surgery is a challenge. So Physical Therapy is the current focus to try to find that missing stamina!
What is the status of your religious stamina? Have you learned anything new since you memorized John 3:16 and Psalm 23? Have you studied anything since you taught a Sunday School class? Do you discuss your religious beliefs with anyone? Do you have a life group where you feel comfortable sharing your beliefs and listening to the beliefs of others?
My group throws out hard topics like "do we believe everyone is going to be in heaven?" Then we say "EVEN Judas?" And maybe other difficult questions.
My Life Group is a lot like my Physical Therapy of my religious health like my time with my Physical Therapy sessions are to strengthen my body! My Life Group strengthens my faith and causes me to think about some things in different ways I may not have considered before.
If one of us has a prayer concern or a joy we want to share, our Life Group is who we turn to! We look forward to being with each other because our time together is like a small oasis mid-week to give us moments of pause for our souls and the it gives us delight to see each other! My prayer for our gathering is often "Thank you, Thank you, God for this group and our time together. "
PRAYER
God, your gift of common souls with which to study your word and how to live better in our world, is such a precious gift! We thank you.
