2 Timothy 1.9
God has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of God’s own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time.
WORDS OF HOPE
The Fine Balance of Harmony
What is a person beyond a collection of choices? Do you remember when you first began to walk? Outside of vague snapshots, I believe I have a puzzle piece memory of that time, but it is probably mixed with having watched the children in my life transition from crawling to holding themselves up to taking their first step.
I once heard an old animator friend say something like “a human being walking on two legs is a performance of the world’s greatest balancing act.” If I think about it, I might presume that those collections of attempts to walk came from a group of random thoughts all connecting themselves in harmony inside people who had a destiny to do so. Not everyone is the same. There are so many varieties of people who are capable of much and those who seem capable but don’t know how to choose.
But the gifts that we have are created with harmony and balance. What’s the point, you ask? Every day we live in our series of choices. We create the world we choose to live in while balancing multiples of simultaneous effects going on all around us, all the time. Today, in your world you can slow your breath and the beat of your heart enough to discover each step we take; each breath we make is capable of changing the outcome of the next moment. Each thing that works in harmony becomes a fine line or thin space containing the harmony you have created to celebrate the world.
I’ve discovered the very fragile membrane that keeps my world humming along as a beautiful gift. To me, it’s called Grace. We are called into grace to become the link to connect the broken, mend the path for those who have lost their way, and to remind others of their gift to actively participate in creating a better world as we have the power to do. By giving a happy smile, a word, an idea, or perhaps a new story, we instill hope in others and if we’re lucky enough on our low days it comes full circle back to us. Grace is a gift from God. You give what you get. What is it you are giving to someone else today?
PRAYER
Thank you for the unlimited grace you bestow on my life. May I always be inspired to share those blessings to help restore harmony to your world. Amen
