SCRIPTURE
Hosea 14.5
I will be like the dew to Israel;
…will blossom like the lily,
And will take root like the cedars of Lebanon.
WORDS OF HOPE
I’m in near constant thought of the idea that comes from a thing called the law of attraction. In other words, thoughts become things and we tend to manifest the things that we think about and give our energy to. My co-author and I were discussing this about writing one of our books for Middle Schoolers.
We both strongly agreed that Walt Disney had an idea for something better than already existed in formulating Disneyland. After visiting several parks and amusement facilities for children, he looked around him and thought of what an ideal park would be like where families could gather in a clean and safe environment to build memories, be inspired, and be educated.
He visualized a place that he wished for the rest of the world. After he set the trend, others followed. Back in the 70s, Six Flags Over Texas used the slogan “Six Flags is what you wish the world could be.”
We continued to ponder this and discovered we both shared an ideal, not just in our thoughts but also in our writing. In this case, our book could very well be manifested in the multiverse, maybe one that illustrates the adage “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”
If that’s true, then there are plenty of examples of alternate worlds given to us in Literature and movies: The worlds of Harry Potter, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Dorothy of Oz are only a few examples of an infinite number of possible other worlds. However, those worlds remain fantasy, outside this divine creation.
Our discussion went to Jesus and the new world he created, not a fantasy world, but one we still live in today. He looked around him and told stories based on the world so familiar to the ordinary person of his day. His parables asked them, “is this the way you want to live your life, or is there a better way?” He asked them if they were content in following a very legalistic religious system -or would they prefer one centered on love? He asked them what they wished the world to be and he challenged them to be the change that would make it that way.
You may have an idea or two of how you wish our world could be. I know I have mine. I live out my life everyday thinking of the change that happens just being the best me I can be on our imperfect Earth. I co-write about invisible Dragons who love and protect Earth and its imperfect people, change history, and wish to remain anonymous. But, that’s just what I do.
What positive change will happen today because of you? How does your presence in the world change people and things around you, and how do you use the example of Jesus to guide you? One of his most loyal followers, Mr. Rogers, left us with an excellent piece of advice in changing the world for the better when he told us “Just be the best you, you can be.”
PRAYER
Inspire me to be the change you want to see in the world. May I always look toward Jesus.
