Ecclesiastes 3.11
God has made everything beautiful in its time and has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.
WORDS OF HOPE
After Thought
Do not lose hope just because you cannot see the sun; the Earth is still spinning. Time moves forward without the need of assistance. We have not realized this, but everything that is happening to us has already passed. What we have determined to be our present circumstances, in truth, has already happened. Everything that is experienced is an after- thought, for we process information in our minds only after our senses become aware of it. Hearing a sound from a distance, seeing an image carried to our eyes by light, smelling a scent traveling through the air, connecting what is in our hands to our minds in order to feel, realizing the sensation happening on our tongues when we taste food are all things that take time to analyze. Thus, our thoughts are responses to the past.
Time is moving forward without our awareness of it. The light from the sun is approaching faster than we think. Winter is shorter than previously thought. Our hopes and dreams are not as far away as we were told. Though we cannot see the future until it has already happened, the future is still coming. Change is coming. Peace is coming. For God’s promises are not towards the past, but for the future.
Can we receive the future while clinging to the past? Even when trouble comes in the night, every second that passes brings us closer to the day. Therefore, we do not have to make the night any longer than it already is by clinging to it, for the day is coming. God does not intend to keep us in a hopeless situation, nor did He create us just to see us destroyed. It is often that God answers prayers before we ask, for God is not bound by time. Perhaps, we are mourning over the past when we should be celebrating what is to come.
PRAYER
God of time,
Do not allow our view of the past to block out our vision of the future. At times, our hearts fail us because all around us are challenges. Show us how to see beyond the storms. Guide us into the day where our safety is secured. Free us from the past and teach us to press towards an even brighter future. For we trust You and we bless You. Amen.
