SCRIPTURE
John 14:26
The Spirit, whom the Abba God will send, will teach you everything and remind you about all that I have said to you.
WORDS OF HOPE
Do you ever have feelings of loneliness or helplessness as if the weight of the world is solely your responsibility? You are not alone. In fact, you are never alone.
Consider the words of this ancient doxology:
“Glory to God's Spirit indwelling, enabling and sustaining."
he followers of Jesus were promised this gifted Spirit's entrance into their soul, and that it would become a powerful force to guide and influence all aspects of daily life. When those feelings of helplessness occasionally come, remember:
"The Spirit, whom the Abba God will send, will teach you everything and remind you about all that I have said to you." (John 14:26)
"This helper Spirit will be with you forever. This is the Spirit of Truth". (John 14:16-17)
It will help you perceive the truth in your life events, and lay bare before your understanding of something which might have been obscure or hidden. This divine Spirit is promised to empower the individual and enable them to perform those activities which are required in daily life and for God's ministry. While God's Spirit enables us to live forth a Christian witness in the world, it also sustains our needs and comforts us. Jesus made certain that his disciples received the loving care which each one required,
especially when he sent them out in teams to go into the Galilean villages and preach, spreading the news of God's Realm. This is true for us today.
As we are empowered by the indwelling Spirit promised by Jesus, we will find God's sustaining
presence to comfort us when attacked by fear, feelings of inadequacy, defeat, loneliness or confusion.
PRAYER
May we remember this day and every day that your Spirit will always be a comfort as well as a teacher to our soul and is manifested in our life as a deep inner peace and joy.
