SCRIPTURE
Hebrews 11:1 NRSV
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
WORDS OF HOPE
I love this scripture that gives us a clear picture of what faith is and what it is not. Faith, for example, is bigger than belief. Belief relies on conclusions we make based on experiences. Faith says, I don't care if I have never seen it or experienced it for myself. I will look for the answer anyway because.... God. This is not "Fake it 'til you make it" stuff. This is genuinely choosing to rely on God.
I am not saying that God's answer will always fit the pictures we have in our minds when we pray. Rather that our faith will enable us to rely on God to provide the best answers. So, we pray about everything, then diligently look for the answer to appear. This prevents a lot of energy spent on worry.
Notice that faith is not about how much faith we have. It's a choice. It is saying, "I will pray about this… then act with confidence that God will direct the outcome." Are we asking for something that seems like a miracle? No problem. God specializes in miracles and they come in many forms. If we pray a lot, we may become specialists in recognizing them.
PRAYER
Dear God, you sent our Redeemer Jesus who came to give me life. I give my life back to you, dedicating my whole self to serve your purpose here on earth. Please help me to stay on course, to act with confidence and integrity, always yielding to your will. Help me to remember to bring my needs and wishes to you. Help me to recognize your answers as the true miracles they are. May I ever stay close to you. Amen
