SCRIPTURE
Psalm 55.1-6
Listen to my prayer, O God, do not ignore my plea;
hear me and answer me. My thoughts trouble me and I am distraught
at the voice of the enemy, at the stares of the wicked; for they bring down suffering upon me and revile me in their anger.
My heart is in anguish within me; the terrors of death assail me.
Fear and trembling have beset me; horror has overwhelmed me.

WORDS OF HOPE
U.S. National Child Health Day is on the first Monday of every October where we show our support of children's health, family, and those that work hard to help them.
Having worked in the healthcare field and seen the amazing people who work in our outstanding Children’s Medical Center here in Dallas, I know the miracles that are performed for the children there. The staff are totally dedicated to not only saving lives and making children well, but they also try everything they can to make their quality of life better. They try to have things to enhance their hospital stay and work on things needed for their return home.
I also have a friend that makes prosthetics for children at Scottish Rite Hospital! And if you watched any of the Para Olympics in France this year, you have an idea of the kind of miracles that they do! And that is just the extreme of the treatments they do. There are all kinds of treatments. They provide pediatric orthopedic treatment for scoliosis, clubfoot, hand disorders, hip disorders, neurological disorders and all kinds of injuries. My friend also goes to camp one week each summer with the children he makes prosthetics for!
The verses above could be the laments of a parent whose child had an illness or injury. The amazing works of comfort and healing provided by the hospitals I know personally are the hands and heart of God working on earth to provide care and healing for children who are in distress and need of care.
There are many more hospitals who do this amazing work! God bless all those who provide healing and comfort and a better quality of life for all God’s children. May we remember and appreciate them not just today, but often!
PRAYER
God who calls people to work your miracles in this world, we thank you today for healthcare workers who focus on children who need medical care. Please bestow special blessings to these wonderful people who give their lives to serve children in need of care.
