John 10:10b
I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
WORDS OF HOPE
What a wonderful day today is - Kitten Day! So perfect for me since we have two 8-month-old black kittens. God blessed our family with them from a wonderful organization called Operation Kindness.
Jazzy and Joy adopted us in early January. They have delighted us ever since. The love of God is very evident in the pets we receive as blessings. Research reveals that those of us with pets have special health benefits.
"Studies have shown that the bond between people and their pets is linked to several health benefits, including: Decreased blood pressure, cholesterol levels, triglyceride levels, feelings of loneliness, anxiety, and symptoms of PTSD."
And the entertainment value of kittens is endless! Especially if you have been a responsible kitty owner and removed EVERYTHING breakable from your home! Jazzy is a wonderful soccer player with little plastic balls. He has spent an hour in one soccer game around the living area! But you should see the look they give us if we give them a toy that is not their favorite grey "mouse," which is usually missing in places they cannot remember, and we cannot find.
God loves us and wants to see us happy and healthy. If we adopt shelter animals like our precious kittens, we discover how beautiful love and life is. I think that is one of the things that allows us to have an abundant life. St. Francis of Assisi spent much of his time preaching about animals, exhorting that all creatures are brothers and sisters under God.
He preached multiple sermons on animals, and wanted all creatures on Earth, including humans, to be treated as equals under God. I thank God for the gift of all the cats who have blessed our lives. The kitten stages of our cats' lives are so special and entertaining. Especially since we always have two siblings. Watching their kitten antics is such fun. Our friends look forward to seeing what we will post on Facebook next about their adventures.
PRAYER
God of abundant blessings, thank you for the amazing pets in our lives!
