READING INSPIRATION
For the beauty of the earth,
for the glory of the skies,
for the love which from our birth over and around us lies;
Lord of all, to thee we raise this our hymn of grateful praise.

WORDS OF HOPE
What an amazing display of God's handiwork I have witnessed in my travels this week. We frequently try to escape the Dallas heat in the summer by traveling to a cooler climate for at least a few days. This year our desire to support women's sports and the WNBA All Star game took us to Phoenix. I told my friends “It isn't hot enough in Dallas, we are going to Phoenix this summer!" And the temperature there reached at least 113° that I know of! But the game was wonderful, and we survived the heat. In Tuscon we toured the Saguaro National Park to see the unusual cactus that grows there. It is a lesson in patience. It takes up to ten years to grow an inch and 50 to 75 years to start growing their arms! And they will likely live about another 100 years. Their uniqueness is amazing. We traveled to Sedona, Arizona and marveled in the beauty (and cooler weather) of the magnificent red rock mountains. We braved a jeep tour that drives into the midst of them (and gives you 3,000 steps on your Fitbit just from the ride) and you see the off-road beauty and learn the names of the rock
formations and find yourself standing surrounded in God's amazing handiwork of how time eroded the Earth into its amazing being! You also must trust God and your driver as you climb up slick solid rocks and back down where there are no roads! And then we visited the Grand Canyon! I cannot see how you can stand on the rim of that amazing formation and watch the rain across on a different rim and have a mountain goat join you on the path and not feel the presence of God!
Visitors from many countries were standing with us. English was not the primarily language in our sunset watching group! A German couple took our picture for us. It remided us of how we all fit together in our world. All one on this night watching this beauty of nature. Unity of spirit is a beautiful thing when you stand together seeing such natural beauty.
PRAYER
God of nature and beauty, thank you for the joy of seeing our country’s amazing places and fun sport events. How amazing you are to create such astounding wonders.
