"Just a Closer Walk with Thee"
I am weak but Thou art strong
Jesus keep me from all wrong
I'll be satisfied as long
As I walk, let me walk close to Thee
Just a closer walk with Thee
Grant it, Jesus, is my plea
Daily walking close to Thee
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be
When my feeble life is o'er
Time for me will be no more
Guide me gently, safely o'er
To Thy kingdom's shore, to Thy shore
Just a closer walk with Thee
Grant it, Jesus, is my plea
Daily walking close to Thee
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be

WORDS OF HOPE
The 40 days of Lent are behind us. But what happens today on Easter Monday? Do we forget the blessings of taking on a special spiritual activity or of giving up something? Did we do those things to bring us closer to God?
Do we not want to continue our closer walk with God? The song "Just a Closer Walk with Thee" is kind of the reason for Lent. During the forty days before Easter, we sat aside time and decided on a spiritual practice that would guide us to a closer walk.
Some people give up food or a practice in their life. Often that involves adding a special small group for me. We discuss the ideas from our study and see how those ideas relate to our own walk with God. Sometimes we even look back into our lives to see how things from our past prepared us or delayed our walk with God to this point.
It can be so healing to tell your spiritual journey to a group of others. Sometimes those stories involve tears or painful memories of hurtful church or family issues that caused our paths to lead us to find a place where we learned that God loved us. This can happen for us even if a previous church or family members caused us hurt. We work through the truths that no matter what we have been told by others - God is Love.
The truth is we are loved by God. We do not have to become something different to be accepted by God. God made us and loves us no matter what. We cannot be separated from God's love. Easter Sunday is proof of God's love for humankind.
Easter Monday is the beginning of a new week with new opportunities to continue the walk with God and the joys of resurrection and all the things we have learned on our Lenten walk. I invite you to keep walking a closer walk. One day at a time, keep refreshing your precious personal relationship with Jesus. I hope to have a continued small group to help my walk continue to be enhanced.
PRAYER
Precious God of Easter and all days, help us walk closer to you day by day.
