John 1:1
In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God!
WORDS OF HOPE
One morning while visiting a friend in Seattle, I witnessed the sun slowly rise across a beautiful blue sky. It was cool, clear, and crisp! I sat quietly behind the glass doors leading to a deck as several crows gathered at a large water bowl on the railing.
I thought how peaceful they looked, taking turns for a drink as the new day began. They cackled and cawed almost rhythmically, without any worries, just there to receive the gift of a new beginning.
I took a deep breath, allowed myself to bask in this peaceful moment and realized unlike the crows, content in the moment, I had been struggling to be present believing I needed to be elsewhere.
Those unsettled thoughts of discontent had led me to feel frustrated about my decision to be there. Even though I prayed and consciously affirmed positive thoughts, I could feel my physical and emotional being becoming uneasy as I let myself get into concern.
So, I took a deep breath, got quiet, and decided to take a lesson from the crows. I let myself experience the sunrise break through the clouds radiating bright paths of light on the lake below. When I got quiet, I heard that still small voice say, “be still and know that I am God, be still and know that I am in you, be still and know that we are one.”
No matter my circumstances, at the start of every morning, I have the choice to speak the word of peace into my day. Every morning I can take a deep breath and feel the presence of the Holy Spirit. Every morning I'm given a new possibility to be the voice of Jesus and every morning I'm given new possibilities to do it all for God. Wow it's so revealing to accept new beginnings to start the day fresh and live in the moment. Really, it's the biggest gift of all.
PRAYER
Thank you, God, for using nature as a reminder to “just let go” and receive your gift of life.
In Jesus name, Amen.
