Special Advent Worship Services
Our Lady of Guadalupe
With mariachis and a ballet folklorico, this service of celebration commemorates the appearance of Mary to the Mexican peasant Juan Diego in 1531. The feast day also celebrates God not only being concerned with those of power or status, but with all people who are treated as outcasts. This bilingual celebration will be a loiving time of story-telling, music, and worship. All are welcome.
Care for Your Spirit
Holiday Blues Grief Support Workshop
Have you lost someone recently or do you still have difficult feeling or thoughts related to the loss of someone you hold dear? Has some part of your relationship with yourself, God, or others really struggled since your loss? Dealing with loss is hard at any time of the year, and especially around the holidays. Holiday Blues Grief Support Group is a safe place for you, where you will find others like you and a team of caring facilitators who want to support you in your grief. We can do this together.
Waiting in Silence, Waiting in Hope
Come, Lord Jesus, Come! is the cry of the church during Advent. But in the haste and frantic busyness of this season, we rarely stop to enter the silence, listen to the yearnings of our hearts, and attune ourselves to the still speaking voice of God. So pause this year with other travelers as we read and share responses to Enuma Okoro’s thoughtful meditations Silence and Other Surprising Invitations of Advent. Okoro speaks to our waiting and longing, our hunger for God, our need for community.
Kwanzaa at the Cathedral
Kwanzaa is an African American holiday, which celebrates family, community and culture. Celebrated from 26 December thru 1 January, its origins are in the first harvest celebrations of Africa from which it takes its name. In this workshop, participants will learn about the history and traditions of the Kwanzaa holiday celebrations, including the seven principles of Kwanzaa and how they connect to everyday life year-round.

Grow. Serve. Give
Simple Gifts Can Change a Life
Now in its nineteenth year, volunteers wrap Christmas gifts using no-cost materials, with 100% of the proceeds from the wrapping services benefiting the Evelyn Pruitt AIDS Crisis Fund, providing financial assistance for those living with HIV/AIDS and dealing with economic disadvantages.
Give Back This Season
Throughout this year, our iCare Team has distributed more than 24,000 cans of food and served lunch to more than 4,800 hungry people. You can help support the ever-growing food pantry ministry by dropping off canned goods every Sunday throughout this holiday season. With your generosity and support Dallas Hope Charities will continue to make a great impact in our local community.
Share the Holiday with Children In Our Community
You can help children and young people have a brighter Christmas when you visit CoH’s own Giving Tree beginning Sunday, November 26 through December 17. The tree will be hung with ornaments, and on the back of each ornament you will find a Christmas wish that you can fulfill. There are three categories of wishes this year – gifts for Maple Lawn School children and their classrooms, Onesimo Hernandez Elementary School, and ministries of our own Cathedral of Hope, including iCare and Bach.
Create Your Own Advent Calendar
The magic of Christmas is spreading hope, peace, love and joy in the world, and noticing those special moments when God is present in our lives. This season, we encourage you to set aside time daily to reflect on the Spirit of Emmanuel - God-with-us - and to spend time sharing God's love in the midst of family and community. Creating an personal Advent Calendar, marking the 24 days until Christmas, is great activity to set aside this sacred time.
