Transgender Visibility
Friends
Last Sunday was “Pack the Pantry” Sunday. I love hearing the filled carts trundling across the narthex floor making their way toward the pantry on the other side of the Fellowship Hall!
I am always overwhelmed by your generosity in ensuring that those who are food and housing insecure are taken care of. Your donations and faithfulness toward those who are less fortunate than many of us is a testimony to the impact that our faith calls upon us.
Every week we provide services in so many ways and your participation make a difference.
On Saturday, April 9 at 9am we will once again gather in the fellowship hall to put together “blessing bags” which we will then be offered after worship to take with us following worship in April. These blessings bags have supplies, information, and resources for those that we encounter at the end of freeways or at other places on our travels around the city. They are indeed a blessing.
Some people have asked how they can contribute to this effort, and I am grateful for this question. In response you can click the LINK to find out how to become a “Blessing Bag Sponsor”. Every day, every week, every month – you make a difference in the lives of our neighbors, and I am grateful.
Today is Transgender Day of Visibility. Last Sunday we stood in solidarity with our transgender siblings and shared our commitment to celebrate God’s diversity, expressed in each of us a reflection of God’s love in the world. We know that our transgender friends face many challenges in the world today; legislation and discrimination that causes further harm. There are two local events that we are invited to show our support further and the links to these events are below:
There is also a rally at the Texas State Capitol on Saturday at 12noon. More information about this can be found here: https://fb.me/e/1AVCXgXKz
I am so very proud of the ways in which our faith calls us to the work of justice and equality for all and I look forward to living into this new world together – even as we prepare to gather both in person and online this coming Sunday.
Blessings, light and love
