2 Corinthians 4:8-12
We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.
Hope Never Gives Up
Sometimes, I have been so low, I have just wanted to quit. Sometimes, the world is in such crisis that I want to give up on all it. But we must not. Even if the ground is completely covered in trash, if we pick up a bottle, then that is one less piece of trash than we had. When volcanoes erupt, the lava will become the land of a new island. Even while burning, the Earth’s hope remains imperishable.
Lord, the leading cause of death to the planet is humanity. Forgive us, for we know not what we do; usually, not until the consequences touch us. It is madness here. Wars are being waged on the inside, and the outside. No one is safe from the rockets of sorrow.
I will bless you Lord with all that I have, because my heart knows the truth: all pain is gain. I do not want to lose sight of that. There is so much that I could be asking for because the world is grieving, Lord, I know that you are grieving with us. I know that we do not grieve in vain. Every pain becomes a blessing. We have lost our peace, but we have not lost our hope because we know exactly where our peace comes from. Peace does not come from money, food, or things that satisfy the body. We walk in peace when we walk with you. To love is to walk with Christ. Let us love, and be at peace.
We cry out, “How long!” It seems like we just can’t bear it any longer. But we know you love us. You will not suffer the wicked to triumph over the righteous. In a world where everyone believes themselves righteous, and their enemies wicked, let us not deceive ourselves by thinking we are any better than the so-called wicked.
Lord, so much has been said, without a sign, as to the profit of this prayer. I believe Lord, so I will count this a victory. We will not perish, but live! Bless my enemy Lord. Forgive them, for they know not what they do. Lead them onto straight paths and protect them on their way. All praises, and honor, and glory be to you, O God. Amen.
