Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.” Ephesians 4:2
A Word of Hope
This is the week we celebrate Valentines Day. “The Catholic church recognizes St. Valentine as a saint. St. Valentine is the Patron Saint of affianced couples, beekeepers, engaged couples, happy marriages, love, lovers, and young people. He is represented in pictures with birds and roses and his feast day is celebrated on February 14.
But if you happen to not be in a loving relationship, the season of Valentines can make life a lonely experience. God’s love commands us to show love to those who need it most. If you call yourself a follower of Christ, keep your eyes open this week for those who are experiencing loneliness. Do something to help those who are sad this week.
Send or give Valentine cards to those who won’t receive them. You might sign them with a note of God’s love. Give out random flowers to lonely people. Give a pair of new socks and maybe a warm hat with a Valentine card to the homeless you encounter this week. Any nursing home would welcome a delivery of Valentine cards that they can distribute to their residents. Neighbors who live alone would appreciate a Valentine this week. Allow God’s love to give you ideas to transform a few people’s lonely experience of Valentines Day.
True love is from God. Share God’s love every chance you get! Valentines Day is a great time to exercise showing God’s love.
God of Love, Help us see those around us in need of love. Help us be your hands to reach out in love to those who need to see your love alive in our world.
