The Vision of the Cathedral of Hope is to be a community of hope proclaiming God’s inclusive love, removing barriers to faith, and empowering all people to grow in grace toward wholeness.
The Mission of the Cathedral of Hope is to reclaim Christianity as a faith of extravagant grace, radical inclusion and relentless compassion.
Cathedral of Hope will offer an extraordinary personal and collective worship experience embodying the values and characteristics of a Vibrant, Inclusive and Progressive (VIP) Christian community.
Cathedral of Hope will offer a comprehensive spiritual formation program that will be a model for the VIP Christian community.
MINISTRIES AND CONGREGATIONAL LIFE
Outreach and Mission
Cathedral of Hope will engage the congregation in ministries serving those in need in our local and regional communities (outreach) and nationally and internationally (mission) fulfilling the vision, mission, commitment and passion of the congregation and will assess the need to create a distinct 501(c)3 entity to support the programmatic work of the congregation that could attract funding from foundations and other alternative sources.
Children and Families with Children
Cathedral of Hope will be a model for the VIP Christian community providing ministry and programming for children (infancy through 4th grade) and families with children.
Cathedral of Hope will be a model for the VIP Christian community providing ministry and programming for Middle School (5th grade through 8th grade) and High School (9th grade through 12th grade).
Cathedral of Hope will be a model for the VIP Christian community providing ministry and programming for young adults that expands beyond the traditional, meets evolving interests and needs, and is self-determined.
Cathedral of Hope will be a model for the VIP Christian community providing ministry and programming for older adults that expands beyond the traditional, meets evolving interests and needs, and is self-determined.
Cathedral of Hope will provide or support social ministry opportunities – ranging from small affinity groups to congregational-wide events – that will engage people of all ages, foster relationships, build community and care for the congregation
Lay Ministry Leadership Development
Cathedral of Hope will continue to develop and support a diverse group of lay servant leaders who will create and lead the church’s ministries.
Professional Ministry Leadership Development
Cathedral of Hope will be a resource within the United Church of Christ and the progressive faith community by providing development, educational and training opportunities.
ADVANCEMENT AND COMMUNICATIONS
Cathedral of Hope will establish and develop the advancement function, including professional staff, with responsibility for stewardship, philanthropic gifts, endowments, and grant acquisitions.
Cathedral of Hope will raise its visibility among its members, its local community, and regional, national and international audiences.
STAFF, FINANCIAL, AND OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT
Cathedral of Hope will implement best practices in policies and procedures that attract, develop, support, motivate and retain clergy and staff who exhibit the highest qualities of ministry, embody the highest standards of professionalism, and embrace a passion and commitment to the vision and mission of the congregation.
Cathedral of Hope will be financially sound by ensuring rigorous financial planning and budgeting, following strict adherence to financial and accounting best practices, procedures and principles, and guaranteeing transparent reporting of financial information to the congregation.
Cathedral of Hope will design, implement and maintain a campus that is inviting, inspiring, functional, safe, accessible, and “green” creating a setting and physical space meeting the mission and vision of the congregation and the needs of our community.
Cathedral of Hope will maintain and develop the technology infrastructure needed to fulfill the mission and vision of the congregation.
Interfaith Peace Chapel
Cathedral of Hope will assess the need for IPC to become a separate 501(c)3 entity to expand opportunities for advancement, extend programming and fully realize the mission and vision of the congregation.
The Cathedral of Hope will have a congregationally-led governance model with a board and committee structure that provides transparent oversight of the congregation’s vision, mission, strategic direction, ministries, financial performance, and operational results and functions using best practice governance policies and procedures.
