I enjoy taking a few moments every week to write for our weekly newsletter. It never ceases to amaze me how much is happening in our church and its impact on our community life together. Even in the middle of a pandemic the work of our church continues and expands, connecting the unconnected and making room for the work of the Holy Spirit to transform us individually and collectively.
This week we begin a “mini-series” called, “Blueprints for Faithful Life”.
Before you can build something, you need a vision or a dream of what you’re building. Not only do blueprints help us to envision what we’re building, they also help to ensure that our structure is sound, stable, and well built. Our faith doesn’t just come out of nowhere – it is built, molded, and loved into existence. Like buildings, our faith needs a blueprint. Over the next three weeks, we are going to be drawing the blueprints for Christian life. This series will focus on how we are called to “do life together” and I will be encouraging everyone to get involved, consider joining a small group, which is one of the ways in which we build stronger relationships with each other, growing as disciples of Christ.
While I will preach the opening sermon of this new series, Reverends Davis, Diaz and Wyma will also preach over the next few weeks, and I sincerely hope that you will look forward to hearing their voices.
As always, please know how much you are a valued part of Cathedral of Hope United Church of Christ and I look forward to welcoming you again this Sunday, either in-person or online. It is in the act of worship that we find our encouragement to live the rest of our work both celebrating God’s goodness and growing in likeness of Christ.
